HOP student research assistant Deina Bossa has been selected for both the College of Medicine University Scholars Program and the NIH Summer Research Program! Deina is a pre-med student at UF pursuing a dual BS in Biology and BA in Economics. Collectively, these two research projects will evaluate the factors that lead to differences in Medicaid expenditures between states, examine the effects of Medicaid spending on the number of uninsured individuals within a state, and make predictions about state variation in the effects of the Affordable Care Act on Medicaid expansion. Deina will present her research findings at the NIH Summer Research Symposium in August 2013 and at the Undergraduate Research Symposium in March 2014. Her HOP faculty research mentor is Dr. Jill Herndon.
